Self-Assessment Deadline – Are You Prepared?

With under 60 days until the self-assessment deadline, are your tax affairs in order?

The deadline for online submission of self-assessment tax returns for individuals and sole traders is 31 January 2023. This applies to all sole traders, company directors and landlords who have earned income to report for the period 6 April 2021 to 5 April 2022.

To prevent penalties from HMRC, it is important to file your tax return and pay any tax due by this date.

Remember, the deadline for filing paper tax returns was on 31 October 2022 so you can no longer send a paper tax return for the year 2021/22. With Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax being brought in by April 2024, it will soon no longer be an option to keep paper records or file paper returns. Get ahead by keeping digital records and make sure that you are prepared for MTD for Income Tax.

At Talking Numbers Accountancy and Bookkeeping, we can prepare your tax return and send it to you for approval. Once you’ve approved, we can submit it on your behalf in plenty of time so that you don’t miss the deadline. We will also help you get set up with an accounting system that keeps you ahead of the game for submitting your returns and get you ready for MTD in the future.
