About Talking Numbers

Working with small business is the raison d’etre for Talking Numbers! Learn why below:

Talking Numbers Accountancy and Bookkeeping was founded by Ben and Sandra. Between us, we have successful backgrounds in accounting and bookkeeping, stockbroking, wealth management, hospitality and construction. We have also both held non-executive director posts in a multi-million-pound construction company, and have experience of managing all aspects of financial reporting and control in a commercial environment. Throughout our careers, we found that what we have enjoyed most is using our knowledge and experience giving smaller companies the same level of expertise as larger organisations.

Working with small business is the raison d’etre for Talking Numbers.

Helping sole traders and other small businesses with all aspects of accounting and finance is what the team at Talking Numbers do every day. We make the understanding and management of finance easier and less stressful for our clients.

We know that the success of Talking Numbers is measured by the success of our clients.

Our Management Team

Ben Moore

Hailing from Newton Stewart, Ben is one of the founding partners of Talking Numbers. Ben spent time as a maths tutor and looking after the accounts and operations of a hotel before moving to Glasgow to successfully complete a first-class degree in Accounting and Business Law. Known for his numerical accuracy and very methodical, organised way of working, Ben has received additional distinctions and recognition for his standard of work and dissertations. Ben met Sandra while he was working as an accountant for a construction company while responsible for management accounts, credit control, cashflow, VAT, CIS, payroll and ensuring timely payment of invoices. Between them, while assisting the smaller suppliers and subcontractors with accountancy questions and issues, they saw a market for an accountancy firm with big business experience and a real interest in the running and development of small businesses.

In his spare time Ben enjoys reading, crosswords and puzzles.

Ben’s career goal is to ensure Talking Numbers provide an excellent service to small businesses and grow the practice while remaining accessible to their number one priority, the clients.

Sandra Milne

Born and bred in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, Sandra is one of the founding partners of Talking Numbers. Sandra enjoys using her numerical skills to assist start-up, small and growing businesses. From her first job when leaving school in the statistical analysis department of House of Fraser, to 20 successful years as a stockbroker, followed by 8 years looking after the accounting department for a multi-million-pound construction company, numbers and understanding what they are saying have always been at the centre of her everyday duties.

She retains a non-executive director role at a construction company, responsible for overseeing compliance, financial operations and strategic planning.

Sandra’s career goal is to develop Talking Numbers into an excellent, go-to resource for small businesses in the areas of accounting, compliance and business development – all areas where she knows that small businesses can struggle to get good, knowledgeable and practical advice.

Personally, Sandra enjoys keeping fit and can be found at the local gym a few times every week and although not running competitively anymore still enjoys running and long walks with Buddy – the office Cockapoo.
