From 18 November 2025, all company directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) will need to verify their identities with Companies House before they can complete their annual Confirmation Statement filings.
Talking Numbers can carry out this verification for you. It’s the same process that you completed when you first signed up as a client.
What do I need to do?
We’ll send you a link to complete the required steps by email. You can make an appointment to come in to our office to have your identity verified in person if you prefer.
You’ll need to:
- Upload proof of your identity
 - Take a selfie to match your face to your identity document
 - Upload proof of your address

You’ll also be asked to confirm your address history and any previous names.
1. Proof of identity
Your proof of identity will usually be one of the following documents:
- Passport
 - Irish passport card
 - UK full or provisional driving licence

If you don’t have any of the above, you can find the other accepted forms of ID here.
2. Take a selfie
You need to take a selfie using your mobile phone. Our system will compare your selfie to your identity document.
3. Proof of address
If you’ve provided a passport as your proof of identity, you can use your driving licence as proof of address. You can’t use your driving licence to prove your identity and address.
Alternatively, your proof of address will usually be one of the following documents:
- Bank or building society statement
 - Mortgage statement
 - UK council tax statement
 - Utility bill

What’s next?
Once we’ve verified your documents, we’ll send this information to Companies House. They will generate your Companies House Personal Code and send this to you by email. You need to pass this code on to us when you receive it. We’ll use this when we file your next Confirmation Statement.
You’ll only get one Personal Code, even if you are a director of more than one company. This code is yours for life.
If you need any more information during this process, please let us know and we’ll be more than happy to help.
